Our Mission

The mission of Fitness for Lifestyle is to promote the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle along with proper diet and nutrition. Muscular strength and endurance, cardio respiratory endurance (also known as aerobic fitness), flexibility and body composition all contribute to how physically fit one is. A person who is physically fit has an enhanced functional capacity that allows for a high quality of life. High quality of life generally implies an overall positive feeling and enthusiasm for life and the ability to do enriching and enjoyable activities without fatigue or exhaustion from routine and required activities. Clients are encouraged to maintain a healthy diet which includes but is not limited to fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh greens, lean meats and whole grains. Some clients choose to supplement their diets with healthy alternatives.

Our Approach

Studies show that we are creatures of habit. With this in mind, we approach fitness at the very basic level. This approach allows us to work with those who are currently active at minimal levels. The initial recommendation is to incorporate exercise into ones current daily activities. For example, walking can replace public transportaion or driving ones car, taking the stairs in place of the elevator is another way in which a client can set goals and achieve a sense of accomplishment in a fairly short period of time. For those who are at a more moderate level of fitness, committing to a advanced level of cardiovascular and resistance training is a platform that has resulted in higher levels of satisfaction. This sometimes results in a client joining the local gym. For those who are physically fit, some have committed to their local 10K Walk or Run, and in addition, assisted in fund raising efforts for their local charity. This too has resulted in an even higher level of personal satisfaction to the client.

Why Now?

Statistics show that 65% of the US population is overweight, 15% of children between the ages of 6and 19 are overweight and 10% of children between the ages of 2 and 5 are seriously overweight. The number #1 reported reason for office visits is fatigue. With the increase in health insurance cost and lack there of, it is becoming more and more expensive to help people get well. It is less expensive to keep people healthy through preventative methods such as a healthy diet and exercise. By the year 2010, it is projected that there will be a significant increase in the obesity epedemic which could greatly impact the health of Americans. Living an active lifestyle has many known health benefits such as reducing stress and lowering cholesterol. Now is the time to get started!
